Mariana Reis – Havlat, DDS, PhD

I am a clinician-scientist studying the biomechanics and biology of tooth cementum in aging and periodontal disease. My research combines molecular and structural analyses with translational approaches to define how cementum adapts to physiological and pathological stress over the lifespan. By establishing cementum as a model for aging in mineralized oral tissues, my work seeks to uncover mechanisms that regulate tissue maintenance, repair, and resilience, providing a foundation for strategies to support periodontal health and regeneration.
